Applying Neuro - Linguistic Method in Creative Writing

By Daniel Hunt

One of the most effective methods to improve writing skills and make the chain of thoughts coherent is Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP). This strategy is developed for young people and grown-ups to establish clearer outlines and place a general idea of the story in a fluent way. The richness of the language is determined by lexical unit usage in the text and various methods of depiction of an idea. The founder of this method is Robert Dilts that developed the strategy making an observation of professional writers working. Applying this method, a person gathers all the ideas into a coherent scheme and gives a full picture of the subject. This article is very useful for individuals that want to improve their writing skills.

The aim of the programming is the following: To learn to get focused on one thing; Figure out the sense that has the best perception of material; placing keywords at the end of the sentence help the writer to keep to the chain of events that need depiction. Examine your assignment title carefully and decide upon the style you are going to use to write it. Take into account the type of an assignment you were given; is it a narration, or fiction or recollection of real events etc. Do not forget about the intended reader and how is he going to percept everything you want to express. Before actually stating to put your thoughts onto paper, make a brief plan of what you are going to use; one after another. If everything is ready and you want to get started, look through the following methods and decide which is better.

1. Choose one of the connection words you know and can apply and place it in your mind in the end of every sentence to ease yourself a task to make a verbal bridge between ideas. 2. If your vocabulary is rich you can interchange some of the words so your composition looks well designed and has a majority of proper terms. 3. Instead of interchange, you can look for good synonyms to linking words and make your speech brighter. There are a lot of sensory verbs that are commonly used in the texts, and can be interchanged as well as altered. Applying this method you have to take into account the narrator’s position, connection and sensory verb. Place the narrator’s position and sensory verb at the beginning while the position of connection may appear occasional. This method helps to generate various ideas and thoughts related, contributes to the general outlook. 4. After you have become an expert in using different methods mentioned above, you can experiment and mix all these points and create your own style to make your work a sample for everyone to follow. This explanation of the method can be a bit complicated, but if you use it and try to improve, you will be a winner.
